SpongeBob Is Getting His First-Ever Stop-Motion Episode
One of Nickelodeon’s many Comic-Con announcements.
SpongeBob SquarePants will have a stop-motion episode for the first time ever this October in a Halloween special. The episode titled “The Legend of Boo-Kini Bottom” was announced by Nickelodeon at Comic-Con and will throw SpongeBob and company into stop-motion animation. The special will focus on the Flying Dutchman, who wants to make sure everyone in town is scared, especially SpongeBob, who thinks scary things are funny.
According to THR, the episode features 27 sets across five stages, 15 boxes of breakfast cereal used to create texture for Bikini Bottom’s coral reefs, eight pounds of glitter to decorate SpongeBob’s Halloween pineapple house, and hundreds of Popsicle sticks to create the planks of the roller-coaster track that Patrick and SpongeBob ride.
