Skepta & Mick Jagger Break Genre Boundaries to Express Political Frustrations on "England Lost"
Anarchy in the U.K.
Earlier this month, Skepta and Mick Jagger stole the internet’s collective attention by taking a picture together while they were locked up in the studio. Now, as today’s new single shows us, there was a very good reason for the pair’s in-studio connection. Disregarding the boundaries of genre, the two English superstars collide for a powerful new record known as “England Lost.” Debuted via the above lyric video, the track appears to be Mick Jagger’s own single and serves as a way for both artists to express some of their political frustrations. “Right from the off when I started writing ‘England Lost,’ I imagined having a British rapper on the track,” Jagger reveals. “Skepta stepped in at a moment’s notice and I just loved what he did.”
