Earlier this month, Skepta and Mick Jagger stole the internet’s collective attention by taking a picture together while they were locked up in the studio. Now, as today’s new single shows us, there was a very good reason for the pair’s in-studio connection. Disregarding the boundaries of genre, the two English superstars collide for a powerful new record known as “England Lost.” Debuted via the above lyric video, the track appears to be Mick Jagger’s own single and serves as a way for both artists to express some of their political frustrations. “Right from the off when I started writing ‘England Lost,’ I imagined having a British rapper on the track,” Jagger reveals. “Skepta stepped in at a moment’s notice and I just loved what he did.”
You can check out Skepta and Mick Jagger’s joint record “England Lost” above. Earlier this month, Skepta lyrically assaulted his detractors with the release of his new solo cut “Hypocrisy.”
