Manny Ramirez Signs Japanese Contract That Offers Unlimited Sushi and Optional Practices
Manny being Manny.
Back in January, former Boston Red Sox slugger Manny Ramirez signed a contract with the Kochi Island Fighting Dogs who are part of the Japanese independent Shikoku Island League. At a recent press conference, the details of his new contract were revealed and it took “Manny Being Manny” to a whole different level. The free-spirited and passionate 12-time All-Star Dominican outfielder who played 19 seasons in the Majors, and did a stint in China, asked for the “Ichiro” treatment in Japan and got his request granted — the back of his No. 99 Fighting Dogs jersey will have only “Manny” stitched on it. In addition, he will benefit from unlimited sushi for the entire season, will receive a personal Mercedes with a driver, be provided hotel suites on road trips, and in a gesture that would make Allen Iverson proud, practices are optional. You can check out a photo of Manny in his new uniform here thanks to his wife.
