The Epic Gundam Statue Sees Its Last Days in This Timelapse Video
A final farewell to the RX-78-2 in Tokyo.
Odaiba in Tokyo was home to the life-sized statue of a Gundam RX-78-2. Recently in mid-March, after five years of being a tourist attraction, the giant robot has been taken down and this time-lapse video perfectly captures the event. The dismantling of the colossal creation is a sad one for many fans of the cult anime classic but in reality, a new Gundam statue — a close to 79-foot-tall replica of the Unicorn Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn — will be replacing this one. And just like its predecessor, the new spectacle will surely bring in more on-lookers.
Watch the fascinating, nearly four-and-a-half minute video above to see the dramatic changes.
