The Brothers of Climbing Aim to Break Down Barriers in the Outdoors
“Are there black climbers?”
Directed by Duncan M. Sullivan — and presented by REI — the short documentary The Brothers of Climbing takes a look at how co-founder Mikhail Martin and his crew of young climbers are trying to make their community a more welcoming one, especially for those of color. The group, which started out in New York’s Brooklyn Boulders, aims to break down barriers and to increase the involvement of minorities in the outdoors, something that is greatly lacking these days. With a goal to create more opportunities for people to share their experiences, take a look at the journeys and stories that have inspired The Brothers of Climbing.
