An Upstate New York Cabin Gets Modernized With Sustainable Materials
Incorporating Scandinavian design elements for an alluring retreat.
Design firm Lang Architecture has launched the Hudson Woods project, which reinterprets a series of modern cabins in the scenic Catskills of New York. Utilizing updated technology with an emphasis on sustainability, locally sourced materials are incorporated with passive elements that include solar panels, and a hydroponic heating system. Inspired by Scandinavian and Mid-Century design, minimal features like white oak walls can be seen throughout the interior, while oversized windows welcome plenty of natural light and a breathtaking view of the mountains. With most of the components found on-site, the building process at Hudson Woods provides a turn-key solution for residents, with two layout choices that can be fully customized.
