Bernie Sanders Responds to the Balenciaga Collection Inspired by Him
The senator denies being a fashion maven.
Balenciaga’s 2017 fall/winter collection unveiled during Paris Fashion Week last month showed a fervent nod to Bernie Sanders and his presidential campaign. From bomber jackets with embroidered designs mimicking his logo to blue down-filled scarves, creative director Demna Gvasalia was undoubtedly feeling the Bern when coming up with the designs.
In a recent interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on State of the Union, the somewhat frivolous topic is brought up to get the Vermont senator’s thoughts on the collection. “Did you ever think you would become a fashion icon?” Tapper asks. “No, not quite, Jake,” responded Sanders. “I think of my many attributes, being a great dresser or a fashion maven is not one of them.” Take a look at the clip from the interview above or head over to CNN.
