Canon Unleashes a Diverse Set of New Cameras Without One Key Modern Feature
The EOS 77D, Rebel T7i and M6 join the family, but there’s a catch.

Canon may be a household name in the camera/electronics sector, but the Japanese mainstay has been somewhat slow in keeping up with the times — ahem, the DSLR-style mirrorless wave. However, it clapped back against Sony, Fuji, Panasonic, et al photogs with its unexpected release of the budding M5 device this past September. Now, the corporation is set to unleash a trio of new cameras that tout the ever trusty 24.2MP sensor, but are missing one important feature: 4K video recording. As video enthusiasts shake their heads in dismay, budding shutterbugs will be pleased to learn about all of the user-friendly specs that are purveyed in the latest offering. What are the cameras? The EOS 77D, Rebel T7i and M6 are set to join the extensive Canon family this spring season.
The M6 is eerily similar to its predecessor in terms of image quality, but boasts one major difference: the lack of an electronic viewfinder. Fans can anticipate a tinier body as well as keep their eyes peeled for a totally different series of lenses. Not to mention, the M6 also gets a silver color option aside from the all-over black makeup which is observed on the M5. As far as standout attributes go, the M6 is exceptionally fitted with Dual Pixel autofocus which allows for swift subject tracking.
For the EOS D variants, the 77D and T7i are equipped with a new dashboard made especially for beginners. The user-friendly interface will help fledgling shooters toggle shutter speed, F stop, ISO and more using a range of sliders. The main difference between the two cameras is that the 77D features a control wheel for added assistance when it comes to shifting aperture or perusing images alongside another LCD screen in its back portion to help users check out the battery life and other performance settings.
All cameras are expected to launch in April. The Rebel T7i will be priced at approximately $750 USD, the 77D at $900 USD and the M6 at $780 USD. Stay tuned for more details and let us know your thoughts on the trio.
