Essentials: Adam Katz Sinding
The photojournalist shares his necessities.

Photojournalist Adam Katz Sinding runs and curates the fashion centric site The 21st, a.k.a Le 21ème, where he captures unexpected behind-the-scenes moments and concocts them into works of art. His site moniker derives from his time living in Paris, where he has shot street style photos for other publications and covered fashion shows backstage for Off-White, Gucci and Helmut Lang. With his heavy arsenal of Nikons (his dad was a Nikon guy so he’s always had Nikons as he told us 13fps are fun to shoot during fashion weeks around the world) and serious addiction to Acronym pieces, HYPEBEAST recently caught up with the photographer to learn about his must-have essentials.
Some highlights include his American Crew Pomade to control any hair type so he can focus his attention behind the lens, while the moisturizing formula in the American Crew Firm Hold Styling Cream tames hair and adds a low shine with a flexible finish. He included the second issue of TTTISM Magazine where he feels honored to be a contributor and recently did a shoot in Sydney, Australia. He also believes Maxime Buchi is the coolest tattoo artist in the world.
Sinding also arms himself with the touch-sensitive Cav Empt gloves for shooting in the rain and cold, and his two favorite lenses, Nikon 85mm and Nikon 200mm for everyday and commercial work, and finally his Acronym x Nemen J28-K jacket, “I have this jacket in 4 colorways and the black Gore-Tex version. With a closet hosting mostly black black black, it’s nice to have a Windstopper layer which has some color so I don’t lose my mind,” says Sinding.
