Bitcoin‘s incredible cryptocurrency broke $7,000 USD per coin for the first time. Some exchanges even reached a high of $7,200 USD during the surge. According to data from CoinDesk, Bitcoin reached an all-time high of $7,355.35. The inflation in price saw the virtual coin rise by more than 7 percent that day.

Over the last month, it’s gained over $2,000 in value per coin. Bitcoin hit the $1,000 mark on New Year’s Day this year, which led to rumors that it might top the now former record of $1,216.7 USD (set in 2013) over the next year.
