Despite now having his own sneaker partnership with adidas, back in the day, A$AP Ferg had to line up for sneakers just like the average sneakerhead. During ComplexCon’s Drop Science panel, the NYC rapper shared a story about camping out for sneakers and participating in the flipping game. Ferg explained that he had lined up for two days to buy a pair of Kanye West‘s Nike Air Yeezy sneakers at a Brooklyn Jimmy Jazz store. He mentioned being “dead broke” and planning on making some profit by reselling the sneakers, as well as there being guns at the scene.
The Harlem native has made great leaps in the sneaker world since then, having had his own “Trap Lord” collection with adidas and most recently being the ambassador for adidas’s PureBOOST DPR. On the music side, Ferg linked up with DJ Premier on a new track titled “Our Street.”
“I’ve definitely lined up for some Yeezys before. I was dead broke. I found myself camping out for two days. People had guns,” – @ASAPferg
