Snapchat Takes You Into the Upside Down With New Augmented Reality Feature
The new lens format is a portal to another world.
Having launched new virtual art software with Jeff Koons recently, Snapchat has revisited its augmented reality feature to celebrate the second season of Netflix‘s Stranger Things. The new feature allows you to step into the Stranger Things world and walk around the Byers family’s living room.
The new feature appears as a portal to another world, with a door that you can walk through before you are surrounded by some of the most iconic features in the Stranger Things set, such as the alphabet light string and the Demogorgon’s outstretched arms. As well as launching the AR feature, Snapchat has announced two new special features to mark the launch. Firstly, there will be a filter of Eleven’s nosebleed and, secondly, using Shazam through the Snapchat app during the opening credits will take you directly into the Byers’ living room.
Watch how the feature works above, and you can use it now on any iPhone 6S and above with iOS 11 installed. Snapchat are just the latest brand to celebrate Stranger Things‘ return, with TOPSHOP and TOPMAN launching a capsule collection and BAIT working with Reebok to pay tribute to the show.
