Essentials: Mark Bustos
The barber shows us his on-the-move items that help support his humanitarian efforts.

Mark Bustos, better known as the Humanit-HAIR-rian on social media, has travelled around the world cutting hair for the less fortunate. Motivated by his exposure to poverty at an early age, the self-taught barber has built a reputation as a humanitarian, giving out free haircuts to the likes of the homeless and hospital patients every Sunday while capturing intimate portraits of his clients.
HYPEBEAST recently caught up with the young barber to show us his must-have essentials. Some of these include his 3.1 Phillip Lim braided leather moto jacket (gifted by Phillip Lim himself), his favorite Andi’s Slimline Pro clipper for precision detailing to maneuver around difficult areas such as around the ears and jawline, and his Bose Wireless speakers, which he carries when cutting hair on the streets to set the mood right. “I love taking song/artist requests from those sitting in my chair for a haircut- it puts them in a state of peace,” says Bustos.
Additionally, he shares with us the new American Crew Fiber Cream for a medium hold and a natural shine and the American Crew Elvis Edition-Fiber™ which helps thicken hair for a matte finish. He also has a passion for collecting Japanese products: Y.S. Park combs and three different style of scissors: Nic STS 5.5 inch, which are his go-to for an all around shear; Kasho Millenium 6.5 inch; and Hattori Hanzo Kime 5.5 inch.
