COMME des GARÇONS HOMME Delivers a Rugged Jacket for Fall
Meshing a variety of influences into a single garment.
COMME des GARÇONS HOMME serves up a hardy piece of outerwear with a new herringbone jacket for Fall/Winter 2017. Designer Junya Watanabe‘s interest in toying with workwear’s typically conservative roots is made clear by the understated revisions.
A hidden placket obscures snap buttons and metal zipper while pocket flaps can be tucked in to further clean up the jacket’s face. Watanabe further modernizes the item by adding a sleeve zipper and elastic cuffs recalling an MA-1, and similar ribbing appears on the shawl neck collar. Corduroy accents ensure that the workwear influence isn’t lost in the progressive redesign.
Currently available at HAVEN, the made-in-Japan jacket retails for $1,118 USD.
