KENZO's 2017 Fall/Winter Collection Is Unapologetically Bold

Inspired by “arctic surfing.”

KENZO designers Carol Lim and Humberto Leon presented their first coed runway show for the luxury label’s 2017 Fall/Winter collection. Inspired by “arctic surfing,” this season delivered KENZO’s signature punch with the use of audacious colors, brazen prints and radical layering and tailoring. A gradient print inspired by the Northern Lights appears on cable knits worn under vibrant ski jackets, sleek color block turtleneck sweaters that wrap around the head effuse equal parts futuristic and retro chic, and bright check-print anoraks are layered over shin-grazing puffers for an unapologetic use of layering. KENZO’s brilliant command of color can be seen in the glaringly white garments and red leather gloves. The upbeat collection also encouraged ethical fashion and eco-awareness: the designers chose to forgo money spent on a set and instead towards environmental organizations Ideas for Us and Earth Guardians.
