LA Dance Group Quest Crew Takes the Chuck Taylor II From Practice to Performance
The Emmy-winning group speaks on their rise to success in the international dance scene.
Coming together 10 years ago as a group of friends with a passion for dancing, the now internationally-known Quest Crew is an LA-based collective that performs in front of huge audiences worldwide. The group of nine specializes in hip-hop dance with insane choreography and rose to fame on the MTV show America’s Best Dance Crew — winning seasons 3 and 8, and making a plethora of guest appearances on programs like The Tonight Show and Ellen and in dance-heavy music videos with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Justin Bieber and G-Dragon. In their rise to fame, the Quest Crew also became known for its members’ wild hair and clothing, both of which combined to channel the wild energy of their dance moves.
Merging their love for sneakers and performance, Hok, Steve, and the rest of the Quest Crew donned the Converse Chuck Taylor II Shield Canvas for practice and put the shoe to the test. Modified for water repellency and with features like a gusseted tongue to keep the sneaker together even when flipping through the air or sliding across a wet floor, the souped-up CT II has the ability to withstand everything the practice stage can throw at it. For performance time, the crew switched to the classic Chuck II for a refined look as they hit the stage in downtown Los Angeles.
Watch the video above to see the group in action and catch their thoughts on success in the world of dance competition and the feeling of camaraderie that comes from a decade of collective hard work.
