Gwyneth Paltrow Signs Onto Apple's TV Show 'Planet of the Apps'
A show that is like ‘The Voice,’ for apps.

Earlier this year, we announced that Apple is getting into original programming with a show called Planet of the Apps. Well, the show is enlisting some big names for its roster. will.i.am. was the first to sign on as a producer, but now, Gwyneth Paltrow and digital media personality Gary Vaynerchuk are also on board. The three will act as advisors and mentors to a class of entrepreneurs and app developers, who will be vying for potential investor backing of up to $10 million USD. Additionally, stellar apps could see featured placement in the App Store.
For those who may be unfamiliar, Vaynerchuk currently runs VaynerMedia agency as a CEO amongst a myriad of entrepreneurial ventures. Gwyneth Paltrow, who may seem like a surprising addition, has been influential in the digital sphere with her Goop e-commerce and digital publishing start-up. The show will begin filming later this year, and applications for potential companies and developers are open until August 26. Chosen contestants will have to have their app in working order (or at least in beta) by October 21 to be eligible, and out of all the contestants, 100 developers who make the cut will receive “hands-on guidance” from the team of mentors. The show is slated to launch mid-2017. Apply to be considered here.
