James Franco & An All-Star Cast Take on John Steinbeck's 'In Dubious Battle'
Franco directs and produces and taps the likes of Selena Gomez, Bryan Cranston, Ed Harris and Robert Duvall.
Outside of The Grapes of Wrath, In Dubious Battle is undoubtedly author John Steinbeck’s most powerful, enduring work and now it’s coming to the big screen thanks to James Franco. Directed by, produced by, and starring Franco himself as Mac McLeod, the film adaptation looks to closely mirror the beloved book itself and shines a light on a communist-led fruit workers’ strike in the California valley as Steinbeck candidly depicts the labor practices and economic and social unrest of the 1930s.
Featuring an all-star cast that includes everyone from Selena Gomez, Bryan Cranston, Ed Harris and Robert Duvall to Vincent D’Onofrio, Josh Hutcherson, Sam Shepard, Zach Braff, Danny McBride and Ashley Greene, Franco’s In Dubious Battle is set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival this Saturday, September 3.
