'Star Wars Rebels' Season 3 Trailer Reveals New and Old Villains
Flying Stormtroopers?
After two successful seasons, Star Wars Rebels releases the trailer for its upcoming third season which follows the adventures of protagonist Ezra Bridger as he is taught how to use the force by his teacher Kanan Jarrus, a Jedi who survived Order 66. Season 3 teases an older Ezra who seems to have learned a great deal since the end of the second season. In the previous seasons, the audience was pleased to see an animated introductions of General Leia Organa, Darth Vader, as well as an appearance by Darth Maul, a character who gained major popularity from his role in the Clone Wars series.
For the first time since since the Disney acquisition — which rendered many Star Wars stories as non-canon — we see the popular villain Grand Admiral Thrawn making his way back to the official universe. Originally introduced in 1991 in Heir to the Empire, by Timothy Zahn, Thrawn is a member of the Chiss species. He is known for being an excellent tactician that learns the psychology of his enemies to target their weaknesses. As the series grows closer to the timeline of the Rogue One storyline, it is exciting to see what characters have the possibility of reappearing in the film franchise.
