On the heels of his CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year Award, Thom Browne impressively delivered a run of impeccably tailored pieces with a colorful spin for his runway collection during Paris Fashion Week. His Spring/Summer 2017 show started off with models donning uniformed, oversized gray wetsuits, before unzipping them to reveal his latest creations. A palette of springtime-friendly hues took center stage with a whimsical reinterpretation of the classic suit, as blazers were mimicked by graphics and deconstructed with unique silhouettes. An assortment of textures from velvet to tweed to delicate silks were juxtaposed against the beach-inspired offerings, playing off structured formal wear. Browne’s affinity for injecting quirkiness was displayed through models dressed up as tropical birds covered in feathered suits, along with bright retro swimsuits featuring bold graphics, complemented by matching socks, shoes and surfboards.
