Joel McHale Tapped to Host CFDA Awards
‘The Soup’ and ‘Community’ comedian will be in charge of entertaining the fashion industry’s top names.

Joel McHale has been tapped to host this year’s CFDA Fashion Awards on June 6 at the Hammerstein Ballroom. He’s best known as being the host of E!’s The Soup as well as the star of NBC’s Community. This year, the awards will be a seated dinner instead of an auditorium-style presentation, and will feature performances by Jennifer Hudson and Michael C. Hall. Hall will be performing a tribute to the late David Bowie, the recipient of the CFDA’s Board of Directors’ Tribute award.
While Joel McHale may seem like an odd choice for a fashion function, the comedian is in good hands as previous hosts include the likes of Seth Meyers, James Corden and Any Cohen. This year’s nominees for Menswear Designer of the Year include Public School, Rag & Bone, Tim Coppens, Thom Browne and Todd Snyder. Nominees for the Swarovski Award for Menswear include Gypsy Sport, John Elliot and Orley.
