Apple's Retail Spaces Celebrate 15 Years and Counting With 2001 Video Tour
A young Jobs takes you on a tour of one of Apple’s earliest retail spaces.
Apple’s retail stores officially turn 15 today. Back then, the PC-dominated universe wasn’t too worried about the ideas of the late Steve Jobs, but with persistence, Apple steadily managed to become the face of the tech world we know and love today. With The New York Times even considering the development of Apple to be “an aggressive move during an economic slow down,” Jobs managed to lead the company to what now consists of an impressive 479 stores a decade and a half later. Generating more revenue per square foot than any other retail competitor, it has inspired companies in the same realm to take similar routes in opening flagship locations as an attempt to even the playing field.
Back in 2001, Steve Jobs excitingly led a tour through one of Apple’s first locations in Tysons Corner, VA. Take a look at the video above to see where the foundation of Apple’s retail stores stems from.
