The Latest 'Star Fox Zero' Trailer Is Banking on Nostalgia
“Do a barrel roll!”
It seems like Nintendo is really banking on the nostalgia of former N64 gamers with the latest gameplay trailer for Star Fox Zero — the spiritual totally-not-a-sequel to the classic Star Fox 64. New features include a shapeshifting Arwing, cross-dimensional portals and co-op modes, which are played off of instantly recognizable environments (Corneria), characters (“Star Wolf, why am I not surprised?”), and catchphrases (“Do a barrel roll!,” obviously) for instantly familiar affairs that strike a sweet balance of nostalgia and anticipation.
In addition, the game comes bundled with a standalone tower defense-style game called Star Fox Guard to maximize addictive gameplay.
