New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has announced the state’s public transportation agency will be adding 2,042 state-of-the-art buses to its fleet over the next five years. The revamped models, which will make their debut in Queens later on this year, will be equipped with up to 55 USB charging ports, three information LCD screens, and most importantly Wi-Fi. The MTA also expects to introduce 70 buses in Brooklyn, 209 in the Bronx, and 18 in Manhattan by 2018, though the existing models will be retrofitted with the same features by the end of 2017. With approximately 8.7 million users each day, the upgrades are part of “a robust plan to fully transform the MTA into an innovative, state-of-the-art system with improved customer service and first-class amenities.” Get more information on the roll out here.
