Volvo To Roll Out the First Keyless Cars That Can Be Unlocked With Your Smartphone
Volvo will be the world’s first carmaker to offer cars without keys.
With the rapid progression of the smartphone eliminating people’s need for MP3 players, digital cameras, and the like, Volvo is about to change the way we think about car access. In 2017 the automaker will be manufacturing cars with new digital key technology so you can open your vehicle with just your smartphone. Using simple Bluetooth connection, you’ll be able to lock and unlock your car with the simple touch of a button as well as locate shared and rented Volvo vehicles on a map near you.
Volvo is set to launch their first pilot program in Sweden this spring via its car-sharing company Sunfleet, with mass production set for sometime in 2017.
