Watch the Trailer for This Vincent Van Gogh Animatic Biopic Made Entirely out of Oil Paintings
Requiring 12 oil paintings per second of the feature-length film.
Traditional animation is already enough of a labor-intensive chore, what with having to draw each individual frame, but Oscar-winning studio BreakThru Films has raised the bar impossibly high with its next feature-length animated film. Titled Loving Vincent, the biopic of prolific Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh’s last days leading up to his mysterious death will be the world’s first fully painted feature film. While currently still in progress, the film has already utilized the talents of over 100 painters to contribute stills, while an impressive array of workstations has been set up in the studio headquarters in Gdansk, Poland to see to this end.
