Samsung May Join the "No Headphone Jack" Club
This seems inevitable with rival Apple and others already doing it.
With the iPhone 7, Apple started the “No Headphone Jack” smartphone club. Eliminating the 3.5mm hole was and still is a controversial topic for many. However, there is no denying that this will be the trend going forward with Motorola and LeEco jumping into the mix and now rumors that Samsung will as well. SamMobile sources claim that the Galaxy S8 will only use its USB-C port for sound.
Although there are no official explanations for this, the reasons and advantages for this decision could mirror those of Apple: larger battery size, more hardware, improved stereo speakers, slimmer body and additional upgrades. You have to give and take in the smartphone game. It seems like Samsung is poised to take in order to give.
