Helmut Lang launched his eponymous label in 1986, taking an unconventional approach to the branding and design of his label. To this day Lang’s original approach still holds an enduring influence although Lang left his label in 2005. For Helmut Lang’s 2017 pre-spring collection current head designer, Alexandre Plokhov referenced iconic archive pieces. As the designer employed straps and harnesses inspired by bondage and parachutes, slashed hems and sharp cut denim that have been long associated with the label and replicated by countless contemporary designers.
