The ZDDZ x Legtorn Collection Welcomes a New Wave of Streetwear Designers
A grass-roots collab between a 19-year-old NYC artist and an emerging Russian label.
Emerging contemporary streetwear brand ZDDZ creates garments that are radical and manifest yet comfortable and functional. For its latest project, ZDDZ collaborated with NYC artist Kyle Castro, aka Legtorn on a collection titled “Funeral Service” dedicated to the “death of the artist in the modern world.” The designer of ZDDZ, Dasha Selyanova, met Legtorn in Central Park while she was showing her capsule trade show and he was selling his paintings. With urban slogans and striking graphics by way of prints and embroidery, the garments use fashion as a contemporary form of street art to reflect aspects of big-city life. The year-long project, conducted through FaceTime and Instagram, resulted in a collection of streetwear essentials such as T-shirts, hoodies, sweaters, jackets and high waisted jeans featuring motifs such as the Grim Reaper, Red Roses, and a pig’s insides mapped out, among others.
