A Closer Look at the "Juxtapoz x Superflat" Exhibition in Vancouver
Large-scale installations, paintings, performance art and more.
After making their imprint in the Seattle Art Fair this past August, Takashi Murakami and Juxtapoz editor Evan Pricco have recently brought their co-curated “Juxtapoz x Superflat” exhibition in Vancouver, Canada. The extensive exposition spotlights a number of various Superflat artwork, spanning paintings, large installations, full-scale sculptures as well as performance art. Over 30 artists have lent their creative talents in conjuring these pieces that are currently on display at the prestigious Vancouver Art Gallery.
Murakami alongside artists Nina Chanel Abney, Chiho Aoshima, Urs Fischer, GATS, Kim Jung Gi, Kazunori Hamana, Trenton Doyle Hancock, John Hathway, Todd James, James Jean, Friedrich Kunath, Austin Lee, Madsaki and Geoff McFetridge have participated in the contemporary art showcase. You will find pieces that cull heavy influences from graffiti, comics, illustration, digital and traditional art while touching upon a slew of subcultures such as skate and surf.
