Following Conor McGregor’s historic UFC 205 win over Eddie Alvarez this past weekend which saw McGregor claim the lightweight championship and become the first ever two-division UFC champion, boxing icon Floyd Mayweather heard that people were comparing McGregor to him and it didn’t sit well.

Now, UFC President Dana White is weighing in on the mix between double UFC champion Conor McGregor and boxing icon Floyd Mayweather, slamming the latter’s fighting style. “Conor McGregor, if he touches you, you go to sleep. Floyd puts people to sleep too, with his fighting style, not with his hands. Floyd can say what he wants about Conor, but even other fighters have to respect him. He’s special. Floyd’s never even come close to doing to other fighters what Conor does.”

There has been tentative talk about a possible showdown between the two combat sports legends earlier in the year and recently when McGregor challenged him to a $100 million USD fight. However, nothing has come to fruition as of yet. Check out Mayweather’s fighting words below:

“I didn’t know Conor McGregor was undefeated, I didn’t know he’s been reigning [over] MMA twenty years undefeated, and was world champion in five different weight classes. That’s something I didn’t know…So I guess you guys are telling me something new if you’re saying he’s the Floyd Mayweather of MMA. If you’re saying he’s the Floyd Mayweather of MMA I’m trying to find out, has he ever made $300 million in one night? Have you ever made $100 million in one night? Have you ever made $70 million in one night. As far as trying to say he’s the Floyd Mayweather of MMA, I mean it’s okay to say it…it’s just not true.”

“I’m a legend, a living legend, I gave years and years of hard work to the sport of boxing, it was blood, sweat, & tears, had a tremendous team, a tremendous run. Conor McGregor goes out there and does what he does, but never compare Conor McGregor to me. That’s a total disrespect. I’m an elephant, elephant don’t beef with ants. Elephant is so large he doesn’t even see ants.”
