However, one entrepreneur is trying to change that misconception with their vineyard, Silver Heights. Emma Gao, who studied winemaking in Bordeaux, hopes that her native Ningxia province can rival famous wine counties such as Napa Valley in the future. And she’s off on a good path — Silver Heights’ wines have been winning over critics with one renowned sommelier even mistaking her wine for a French variety in a blind taste test.
