Danish designer Henrik Vibskov showcased his usual avant-garde style for his 2016 Fall/Winter collection during Paris Fashion Week. Aptly dubbed “The Jaw Nuts Piece” the headpieces on the runway were just as much a part of the collection as the clothes. Taking a modern interpretation of the perennial nutcracker doll, the wooden heads of the toy were symbolized by whimsical hats and helmets. As the moving jaw of a nutcracker can produce an unpredictable sound, scattered prints and contrasting stripes represented the cacophony and chaotic sound of nutshells being crushed. Some key pieces included a color-blocked wool overcoat accompanied by a matching blazer and bottom, along with billowy one-pieces with brightly-hued prints cinched slightly below the waist. A nod to the traditional stylings of the nutcracker could also be seen as striped footwear and bound accessories across the body were sprinkled throughout the runway.
