However, the tradition of directors delivering a cameo in their own movies is a longstanding practice that can trace back to Alfred Hitchcock in the 1950’s. From George Lucas in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith to Peter Jackson in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the cameos range from fleeting instances to full-on supporting roles.
