Jon Koon's Journey From Selling Auto Parts to Owning Andy Warhol's Studio
Made his first million at age 16.
New York born entrepreneur Jon Koon made his first million at age 16 by selling imported Asian auto parts to US television networks, namely Time Westwood and Xzibit’s show Pimp My Ride. Most of us would have probably been content with that level of success and lost motivation to increase our fortunes, but the young visionary had other ideas in mind. He soon transitioned to the world of apparel by becoming the sole manufacturer of all the headwear for Rocawear, reaping much greater financial reward than his first short-lived venture. After adding Honda and even international wholesaler Costco under his thriving Koon Enterprises banner, Koon purchased Jay-Z’s 8732 streetwear brand in 2008, which he ended up re-launching with Young Jeezy to much success. Despite his triumphs in streetwear industry, Jon decided to leave the U.S. to focus on smaller markets and partnered up with an Italian designer to launch Domenico Vacca, a ready-to-wear line that is now worn by a number of celebrities including the likes Arnold Schwarzenegger and Al Pacino. He recently opened up the doors to his latest venture Private Stock, a high-fashion concept store in Andy Warhol’s former studio located in New York SoHo district.
