Longtime Product Marketing Executive Gentry Humphrey Leaves Nike
One of the most influential figures in the start of the Jordan Brand and the Foamposite series leaves the Swoosh.

According to Nice Kicks and its multiple sources, longtime product marketing executive Gentry Humphrey is leaving Nike. Having been with the Swoosh since ’94, Gentry was a key figure in expanding the Air Jordan line immediately following MJ’s second retirement in 1998. Furthermore, “he is often credited with helping to shape the initial product plan and cadence for Air Jordan retro models that has since become a staple of the now-$2 billion USD Jordan Brand,” said Nick Depaula of Nice Kicks.
He leaves Nike after leading the brand’s Nike Sportswear division as well as heading up the retro basketball line for the past five years. His most recent accomplishments within the footwear realm include revamping both the Penny Hardaway and Charles Barkley lines, and the “explosion of the Foamposite series.” There is no word on what Humphrey has planned next.
