Nike Metcon 1 "Banned"
Shots fired at Reebok and a nod to Michael Jordan, all in one sneaker release.

Nike has take aim at rival sporstwear brand Reebok with a new “Banned” colorway of its popular CrossFit shoe, the Metcon 1. Competitors at CrossFit events nationwide are obliged to wear footwear produced by the British-born brand, thus outlawing the Metcon 1 and any other Nike products. In response, Oregon’s finest have adorned the shoe with a design reminiscent of Michael Jordan’s infamous Air Jordan 1 colorway and pitched them as “Banned.” Officially known as the somewhat less controversial Nike MetCon 1 “Varsity Red”, the shoe will be released on July 16 at select retailers for $130 USD.
