Tumblr Debuts New GIF Search Engine
This morning, Tumblr released a new feature to help take advantage of the mass archive of GIFs

This morning, Tumblr released a new feature to help take advantage of the mass archive of GIFs hosted within its service. Following Facebook’s recent decision to support the file format, Tumblr’s new service now allows users to easily locate GIFs and add them to their own posts while ensuring all credit is given to the file’s original source. The new implementation only works for GIFs that have been posted to the platform directly and catalogued by Tumblr’s search algorithms. As a result, it is now easier to surface GIFs through the use of less common keywords. Currently, the feature is only available on the web despite notifications and attributions being available across all platforms such as Android and iOS.
