Nice Architects have developed the “Ecocapsule,” a portable pod that is self-sufficient using solar and wind energy. This pod makes it easier for anyone to get away and live off the grid — wherever they would please. Able to house two, the pod measures in at 4.45 m. long and 2.25 m. wide, weighing in at 1,500 km. A 9,744 turbowatt battery is charged through the built-in 750-watt wind turbine and 2.6 sq. m. of solar panels. This system allows for someone to live in the pod for a year, depending on the location. Its pod shape is designed specifically to increase collection of rainwater while minimizing energy loss. Inside, everything necessary is included, such as a built-in kitchenette, a flushing toilet, and hot water. Check out Ecocapsule’s website here, with a slated availability date scheduled for the end of the year.
