Two years ago, a pair of Virginia songwriters, De Rico and Mareio Overton, filed a lawsuit against Justin Bieber and Usher for Bieber’s song “Somebody To Love,” claiming that Usher took the song without permission after they played their version to him in 2008. Earlier today, the $10 million lawsuit was approved to move forward; the judge shares: “After listening to the [De Rico's] song and the Bieber and Usher songs as wholes, we conclude that their choruses are similar enough and also significant enough that a reasonable jury could find the songs intrinsically similar.” We’ll keep you updated with the case.
