Jaden Smith seems to be deeper into the music game more so than in acting as of late, but that will soon change for him. There is a new series on Netflix helmed by Baz Luhrmann currently in development, and Jaden is co-starring as an 18-year-old graffiti artist named Marcus “Dizzee” Kipling. The story is set in 1970s South Bronx and is about a group of teens who, according to The Hollywood Reporter, are “armed only with verbal games, improvised dance steps, some magic markers and spray cans” and have “changed the city, and the world forever.” According to Luhrmann, Jaden has already began practicing his graffitiing. He shares to Deadline: “He has begun developing his The Get Down skill set, even taking lessons from the legendary graffiti artist Lady Pink of ‘Wild Style’ fame, as well as steeping himself in the history and culture of the Bronx.” The series will debut in 2016; we’ll keep you posted with more information.
