If you were thinking of working with drones, there may not be a better time than now as drone operating system company Airware has announced its new venture fund to invest it early-stage startups. The Commercial Drone Fund is looking to make $250,000 USD to $1 million USD available to budding companies that are “developing technologies critical to scaling the use of drones across a variety of commercial applications.” The focus of the fund will belong to five areas: sensor hardware, software applications, cloud-based aerial data analysis tools, drone-based services and complete solutions for specific industries. Not only has Airware launched a fund, but DJI, the world’s largest manufacturer of commercial drones, accounted that it will be teaming up with Accel Partners on SkyFund. SkyFund is an initiative that looks to provide $10 million USD to early-stage companies developing tools on the DJI platform.
