Nike's "Olympiades" Short Film Pays Tribute to Hip-Hop, Basketball & Running
With the NBA Playoffs entering its final stretch, the idea of a “champion” has never been more
With the NBA Playoffs entering its final stretch, the idea of a “champion” has never been more pressing. We watch – and to an extent, play – sports by creating our own narratives, to observe the ascent of a player from start to glory. It’s this sense of perseverance that compels us, drives us to want more; indeed, this feeling of upward mobility is a chief theme across not only sports, but other disciplines. Zeroing in on this idea, director Alexis Pazoumian unveils a new short film, ”Olympiades,” that encapsulates the pure, unbridled passion of amateur basketball players, runners and hip-hop dancers. There is beauty in practice but also its form, which is keenly addressed by Pazoumian’s Nike-commissioned piece. Enjoy “Olympiades” above and head here to check out more work from the budding French creative.
