Italy’s Stone Island returns for 2015 with a preliminary look at its latest sportswear for the upcoming fall/winter season. Once again offering the label’s signature, unique designs, the new collection was crafted around the theme of coalescence — literally the physical phenomenon through which drops of a liquid, the bubbles of a gaseous substance or particles of a solid unite to form larger entities and, in this case, the phenomenon by which design, function, materials, dyes and textile treatments come together to create a whole. The result is a range of hybridized pieces that couple the natural with the synthetic as the brand’s three decades of history unite thought, process and knowledge. Look for Stone Island’s latest garment-dyed polyethylene shells, multilayered laminates, reflective coatings, down-filled lightweight polypropylene canvases, cotton/nylon blends, Primaloft-insulated leathers, stretch denim, yak knits and more — not to mention a collab with Japanese bag specialist Porter — to debut in the months ahead.
