Since taking over the creative reigns at the prestigious fashion house Christian Dior, Raf Simons sought to inject some new energy into the iconic brand that he saw more fit for today’s luxury consumers. Stepping into the helm of such a historic brand would certainly be overwhelming for anyone, but Simons soon proved to be fit to the task as the Paris-based imprint generated more than €1.5 billion EUR in the fiscal year of 2014. This once again cemented its stature as one of the world’s biggest fashion houses. Business of Fashion recently sat down with the Belgian designer in Cannes, to talk about the first impressions and challenges that he faced, while also elaborating on what he foresees for the brand in the near future.
