Behind the scenes in hip-hop are a plethora of unknown talents, and one of its most outstanding heroes has been raised in the form of Young Guru. Wall Street Journal reports, that Guru has worked with JAY Z for the past 16 years, and is one of hip-hop’s most trusted sound engineer. At 41 years old, Young Guru is hailed as “the most famous and successful engineer in the history of hip-hop.” With a list of experiences including Sean Combs’ Bad Boy Records, Jay Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records, Eminem and 50 Cent’s early careers, and more, the engineer is still in the game. Not content with his achievements, the engineer is also teaching his skills to a new generation; he is an artist-in-residence at USC. It is stated that Young Guru’s “innate grasp of the relationship between engineering and art is a valuable commodity.” It’s apparent that Guru is a certified and desired commodity in the world of sound engineering, and his wisdom is paramount to the success of this world, moving forwards.
