Apple Is Attempting to Stop Free Streaming on Spotify

Apple is going the aggressive route with their relaunch of Beats Music. According to The Verge, The Department of Justice and The European Union’s Competition Commission are both currently investigating the California-based computer company for pushing major music labels, such as Universal Music Group, to stop streaming their music for free on Spotify. An industry executive shares: “There is concern in the industry that Apple, with its enormous market share and distribution power and what it can do in terms of pricing and promotion can have an unfair competitive advantage.” If Apple succeeds, what do you think will happen to the future of streaming?
