Schaffhausen-based watchmaker IWC introduces the Pilot’s Watch newest model with the Double Chronograph “Le Petit Prince” Edition. This special edition watch honors the famous 20th century poet, writer and pilot Antoine de Saint-Exupéry who wrote the famous novella, Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince). The timepiece features a 44 mm, stainless steel case which houses a rich navy blue watch face with three dials and an automatic caliber 79420 double chronograph movement. Seven stars are placed in the center of the dial that alternate lighting up each day; these symbolize the seven planets Le Petit Prince visits in his story. The back of the case features engravings of Le Petit Prince’s face, surrounded by seven stars as well as the names of each planet’s inhabitants: the King, the Geographer, the Businessman, the Vain Man, the Rose, the Lamplighter and the Drunkard. The IWC Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph “Le Petit Prince” edition watch will be sold at IWC boutiques for $12,700 USD at a limited production run of 1,000 pieces.
