Apple Acquires High Performance GPS Company

Apple continues its expansion with its recent acquirement of Coherent Navigation, a small GPS start-up company. Apple is already famous for its location services and while no official statement has been released over its intentions with the new purchase, it is easy to speculate that the accuracy of Apple’s maps and navigation services will increase in the future. Coherent Navigation’s GPS capabilities are much stronger than Apple’s current systems, as they utilize the help of Iridium‘s low-orbit communication satellites to pinpoint locations to the inch. It is also speculated that this may be a strong feature of the rumored self-driving electric car it’s in the works of developing.
