Since he began implementing his “digital installment” last week, a calculated endeavor initiated by Robert Gallardo of his new creative team AWGE, A$AP Rocky’s Instagram account has taken a substantial hit. An estimated 100,000 active Instagram users have since unfollowed the rapper, primarily due to the natural progression of the artistic project, which featured continual uploads of filled, white, black or gray gradient boxes, and other times incoherent squares that when viewed separately, do not depict much meaning, but when put together, utilizes Instagram’s visual grid to uniquely offer various artistic snapshots. It seems as if the high-stake promotional endeavor in support of A$AP Rocky’s new album A.L.L.A has backfired, since users chose to stop following the rapper rather than continue to scroll through blank uploads on their feed as the installment developed.
